Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello’s application to vacate arrest warrant against him was dismissed by a Federal High Court, Abuja on Friday.

The presiding Judge, Justice Emeka Nwite dismissing the application brought by Yahaya Bello’s lawyers, explained that Bello had been in the contempt of Court by going into hiding and refusing to make himself available before the Court.

The Court averred that Bello was facing criminal charges and having refused to turn himself in court, makes him lacking favour or discretion of the court to be granted a relief.

The Judge maintained that Bello was taking the Court of Justice for granted, adding that he cannot sit in the comfort of his home and be dictating to the Court of law where he is to be arraigned.

Bello’s attempt to void the jurisdiction of the Court to try him on criminal charges was also dismissed by the Judge.

Bello on April 23contended that the arrest warrant against him was unnecessary since his lawyers, Abdulwahab Mohammed accepted the service of criminal charges on his behalf in respect of the alleged N80.2 billion money laundering charge brought against him by the Federal Government.
