LG election: NASIEC set to conduct credible polls – Wandai

The Chairman of Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission, NASEIC, Hon. Usman Wandai has assured the people of the State of the Commission’s readiness to conduct free and fair LGs election.
He gave the assurance in an exclusive chat with CAPITAL POST at the State Ministry for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development in Lafia.
Wandai who re-emphasized that there is no going back on, February elections earlier announced by the body.
“Let me assure the people especially politicians in the State that the Commission had concluded all the necessary arrangements for the conduct of the LG election which will be credible, free and fair to all manner of political parties without bias.”
The NASEIC boss appealed to all political parties to have confidence in the electoral umpire as no form of rigging will be accepted.
“The duty of an election management body is not an easy one, but at the same time it’s an easy one for the fact that all what we are there to do is to implement laws. We have various laws and you can only doubt our competency, if we violate any of the rules of the game”, he added.
Wandai further explained that there is Local Government law, Election law and NASEIC law basically, “this are the laws we use to run LG’s election until we defaulted in anyone of the laws you can hold us accountable.
