Rivers Assembly Crisis: Two lawmakers’ election of Speaker, mockery of democracy – Group
Concerned Rivers Citizen, a group with bias in democracy has described the purported election of a new Speaker of Rivers State as another mockery of democracy depicting Africa magic series in Nigeria.
In a statement issued and by the convener of the group, Emmanuel Chibuzor Tuesday described the move by two lawmakers that elected a Speaker as mockery of democracy that should not be taken seriously by any sane Nigerian.
“We have read in the social media networks how the two lawmakers visited the Governor in Government House and decided to script a play to rubbish democracy in Nigeria.
“We are quite aware that the clock is ticking for the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara but applying jackboots politics to give democracy another name designed by him and his two lawmakers is truly laughable.
“Rivers people are not surprised of this development considering how Fubara moved bulldozers to demolish the State Assembly that was built with Rivers People’s money.
“Again, we should all remember that our state has one of the highest numbers of well read Nigerians and for a governor to say he does not recognize an arm of government shows crass ignorance in governance.
“It’s indeed a sad commentary for our noble state that we have a group of clowns and jesters running one of the oldest states in modern day Nigeria.
