International Girls in ICT Day: NCC commemorates female folks in ICT

The Nigerian Communications Commission has commemorated the female folks in the Information and Communication Technology, ICT as they marked the Girls in ICT day on April, 25 2024.

This is even as the event is celebrated annually with the NCC leading other stakeholders in the industry to grace the occasion with the aim to empower and inspire technology, engineering, and mathematics, STEM.

Tin this year’s occasion which the NCC considered as all important, the regulatory agency admonished all female genders to seize the opportunity in the ICT industry, stressing that their contributions are vital to driving innovation and progress in the industry.

In this year’s celebration tagged: “Leadership,” shines a spotlight on the critical importance of strong female role models in STEM careers, the NCC reiterated its commitment to promoting STEM education and career paths for female genders.

The celebration of International Girls in ICT Day therefore underscores the NCC’s dedication to fostering diversity and inclusion within the ICT sector as it believes that a diverse workforce, with equal representation of women and men, is essential for driving innovation and addressing the unique challenges faced by different communities.
