Thugs that have been drafted to Edo State by the All Progressives Congress (APC) are from Kogi Central Senatorial district, CAPITAL POST’s investigations revealed.

A political aide in the Lugard House was currently coordinating thugs, some of which are on the payroll of Kogi State government as political aides.

It was also learnt, penultimate week, that some young men from a local government in the Central Senatorial district were scrambling to join those who have been organised to move into Edo State to procure the governorship election for the All Progressives Congress but our sources could not confirm if their request was granted by the Coordinator.

The coordinator was said to be allowing those they call, ‘Lokoja boys’ and ‘Okene boys’, who have been trusted for working in a manner that the State wanted, particularly how they delivered on promises in Kogi governorship election which held on November 16, 2019.

While they were being briefed, they were told to be circumspect and be highly focused on the mode of operation particularly on the need for them to disguise as security agents.

CAPITAL POST’s investigations further revealed that some thugs loyal to APC who worked for the party in the November 16th governorship election in Kogi State from Kogi East Senatorial District declined when they were approached by an APC leader (name withheld) particularly at Anyigba in Dekina Local Government Area.

It was however, discovered that some boys from Ejule could not give a succinct answer, but promised that they would think about the assignment before the Edo governorship election on 19th September, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State has raised serious concern over the influx of thugs from the neighbouring Kogi State on orders of the Edo State All Progressives Congress.

PDP in Edo State had over the weekend alleged that thugs in two Sienna buses moved into Edo from Kogi State to intimidate electorate and cause crisis.

Edo State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chris Osa Nehikhare on behalf of the PDP Governorship Campaign Council claimed that the party has intelligence report of thugs moving in two Sienna buses with arms and ammunitions who have already crossed through Edo-Kogi northern border to purposely executive their evil agenda against the people of Edo State.

The Publicity Secretary of PDP called on the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the State Security Services to quickly track the thugs with a view to bringing them to justice.

In his words, “The buses are loaded with with arms and ammunition. They have been ordered to intimidate electorate and cause mayhem.”

“We have always maintained that the APC has nothing to campaign with and has only one face-saving strategy to intimidate voters.

“This is all they plan to do in this election and we have seen this manifest in a number of times as they have unleashed mayhem on innocent Edo people. ”

PDP vowed to work with security agents at ensuring a free and fair governorship election.

CAPITAL POST recalls that Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello was in charge of Security and Logistics, while his Kano State counterpart, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje was the Chairman of Edo State APC governorship Campaign Council.
