Ahead of the All Progressives Congress, APC primary election slated for 20th April, governorship aspirants have reacted to comments by the governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa that there was no vacancy in government house.
CAPITAL POST quoted the governor to have declared “no vacancy in government house”, after he was screened by the Ondo State Governorship Screening Committee on Friday, at the National headquarters of the party in Abuja.

Reacting to the comment, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim who was also screened by the Committee, described the governor’s remark as a huge joke, insisting that after the primary election, governor Aiyedatiwa would be out of government house in Ondo.

Change of Name

Jimoh said: “The governor is a huge joker; he is joking. It’s a big joke. He is out of that place. At the end of the primary, he will be gone. What is the governor talking about? He has never won an election.”

In the same vein, Chief Olusola Oke, said, the governor’s utterance is a decoy to undermine the democratic process, noting that all the contestants shall face him at the primary election, believing that a level playing field would be created for all.

He said, “It’s a statement of wish and desire by the governor, and it’s a statement that is intended to undermine a democratic exercise. If we are going to the primary and the people will have to determine, how would anybody have the guts to say there is no vacancy?

Meanwhile, Governor Aiyedatiwa in his comment, said, remained the best man for the job, adding that his WAEC certificate was not forged and mischief makers must desist and repent.

He had said, “I will just advise them to repent and try to go to the field and work. They are interested in the seat, and the seat is not vacant, that is why they are trying to do all that they are doing.

“You see, we are all indigenes of Ondo State and we are all qualified to run to be the governor of Ondo State, but there is a sitting governor. I have the structures; the people and the competence.”

“There is no vacancy between now and February next year, no doubt, but after February, his one-year term will be exhausted and then there will be a vacancy.”

Another aspirant, Dr Olusoji Ehinlanwo, also said Aiyedatiwa is not a threat to his ambition.
