Kidnapped Channels TV reporter, Joshua Rogers, regains freedom

The Channels Television Reporter who was kidnapped from his home in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor area of Portharcourt, capital of Rivers State, has regained his freedom.

The reporter, came back home at 10.00pm unharmed on Friday after spending 24 hours in captivity.
He was kidnapped on Thursday by the yet-to-be identified abductors.

Change of Name

His colleague, Charles Oporum confirmed the news of his release late on Friday, stating, “Yes, he has been released about an hour ago, and has reunited with his family.”

The management of Channels Television also affirmed Rogers’ release in a brief statement, expressing gratitude to viewers and all concerned parties for their support during the distressing incident.

Meanwhile, a video surfaced showing Rogers celebrating with his family following his return to safety, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The circumstances surrounding his release remain unclear, whether it was a result of security forces’ intervention or through ransom payment.

Both the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) had initiated rescue operations upon learning of his abduction.

Rogers holds the position of Government House Correspondent for Channels TV in Port Harcourt.
