Gombe Governor vows support for Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission
The Executive Governor of Gombe state, Inuwa Yahaya has promised his support for Christian pilgrimage in Gombe state.
He made this known recently in Gombe during a courtesy call on him by the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission NCPC, Rev Yakubu Pam who led a delegation of chairmen and secretaries of the states Christian Pilgrims welfare boards in the North East zone.
In the words of the Governor, “we will give you our support to our Christian brothers and sisters to enable them perform their spiritual obligations in Israel”.
The Governor affirmed that Gombe state is the most peaceful state in the North East and even in Nigeria. He emphasised that there had never been a breach of peace in Gombe state.
According to him, “We will work for peace and we pray that we will continue to live in peace”. He appreciated the Executive Secretary for the choice of Gombe for the stakeholders meeting which he attributed possibly for the centrality and neutrality of the state.
The Governor affirmed that the scourge of the COVID 19 pandemic had brought a lot of challenges on the economy which he said was also a wake up call for the needful to be done.
Governor Yahaya told the NCPC boss that the state usually made provisions in its budget for youth empowerment and women in order to help them cushion the effect of the harsh economy prevailing in the world and the state is not an exception.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev Yakubu Pam informed the Governor that he was in the state for a synergy building between NCPC and the states Christian Pilgrims welfare boards.
He commended him for appointing the Executive Secretary of the Gombe state Christian pilgrims welfare Board whom he said was doing well. He equally congratulated the Governor for his one year of effective leadership in Gombe state.
The NCPC helmsman also commended the Governor for the youth empowerment programme of his administration, coupled with the visible infrastructural transformations in the state.
He commended the Governor for his consistency in the sponsorship of Christian pilgrimage to the Holy Land over the years. He urged him to maintain the tempo and surpass the past records.
Rev. Pam intimated the Governor that Gombe International Airport would be used to airlift intending pilgrims from the north east this year.
