Ondo Guber: Female aspirant speaks of defeating others in election
A female governorship aspirant, Dr. Funmi Waheed Adekojo has officially entered into the Ondo State governorship race, having purchased the expression of interest and nomination form of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The 40-year-old mechanical engineer, speaking on Wednesday, after payment of N10 million on Wednesday at the party National Headquarters, said, she is aspiring to be the first female governor of Ondo State and will defeat those contesting with her.
She expressed her readiness to contest the governorship election, insisting that nobody in the party can intimidate her.
The APC has pegged the expression of interest form at N10 million while nomination form is sold for N40 million, but female and persons with disability have concession to only purchase expression of interest form, while nomination form has been made free for them.
Dr. Waheed-Adekojo will be contesting with the incumbent governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa who has declared his interest to contest the election.
Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Jimoh Ibrahim and another APC Chieftain, Olusola Oke and others are throwing their hat into the ring.
However, rumour of the female aspirant fronting for the governor, is milling around in Ondo, but she denied the allegation while speaking with journalists, saying she was contesting on her own accord.
She said, “I am not fronting for anybody. I have just picked N10m form that is also not being paid for by any godfather. It was paid with my hard earned money through which I have also single handedly raised 15,000 women and youths in Akoko and Ondo State generally on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.
