Kogi East Senator, Isah expresses concern over tragic communal crisis in constituency
Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Isah Jibrin, has expressed grave concern over communal crisis rocking Ayeke and Enweli communities in Ibaji Local Government Council of the State.
He said, the crisis was needless, while he described the escalation of the communal crisis between the two communities as worrisome, adding that the warring communities should sheathe their swords.
He said: “The needless violence has recorded monumental casualties, leading to great concern and distress among the populace.”
The lawmaker in the upper legislative Chamber of the National Assembly insisted that such conflicts among brothers are utterly unacceptable, particularly in times when peace and prosperity should be the collective focus of all and sundry.
“The resort to arms and violence is alien to the values of our people, and it is imperative that we find peaceful resolutions to our disagreements.
In light of these distressing developments, Senator Jibrin urgently called upon the Kogi State Government and relevant security agencies to swiftly deploy security operatives to the affected communities.
“It is imperative to restore law and order, protect the lives and properties of innocent citizens, and prevent further escalation of violence.”
Senator Jibrin reiterated his commitment to fostering peace, unity, and progress within his senatorial district as he urged all parties involved to prioritize dialogue and reconciliation as the pathway to resolving grievances.
