BREAKING: Senate in rowdy session over alleged N28.7 trillion budget padding
Nigerian Senate is currently embroiled in rowdy session with heated debates on a motion brought up Senator Solomon Olalemilekan representing Ogun West Senatorial District, stating that Senator Abdul Ningi from Bauchi alleged.
Olamilekan’s motion after it was seconded, led Senator Adamu Aliero coming under Order 42 and urged the Senate to allow fair hearing.
Aliero said, there was misconceptions and misinterpretation of the interview with difference versions of the interview granted in Hausa language.
Amid confusion, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio lamented that the alleged padding was tagged to him and not even the Speaker of the House of Representatives, while it takes two chambers to pass a budget.
Ningi who stormed the Chamber with documents insisted that on what he said, that he hired a Consultant to investigate the budget documents and discovered that the sum of N3.7 trillion was not traceable to projects.
He expressed disappointment that some N150 billion, N100 billion, N50 billion were allocated to some Senators while his own Constituency was N2 billion.
