The Africa Initiative For Humanitarian Development (AFRIHUD), a non-governmental organization (NGO), has assisted and facilitated soft loan facilities to over 40 business women in Minna Niger State, to improve their capital.
The Chairman, Board of Trustees and Executive Director of AFRIHUD, Mallam Umar Yakubu Doshiro, gave the hint in a press release he sent to CAPITAL POST in Minna, stating that the facility was through its business support programmes (BSP).
He disclosed that the NGO also assisted in the struggle to access the targeted credit faclity, (TCF), of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as COVID-19 recovery plan of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The statement added that, “over 320 individuals who could not have access to internet facilities with free registration were assisted as part of our humanitarian support.
Mallam Yakubu Doshiro explained that the initiative, had between June 6 to July 5, 2020, had trained a total of 200 local farmers, as Community Agricultural Extension Volunteers (AEVs), in four rural communities within Minna, Niger State.
These clusters of farming techniques, he disclosed, is to increase productivity and ensure food security “as part of our COVID- 19 recovery plan”.
He insisted that the training is aimed at impacting knowledge on the farmers on value chains development and access to market towards preventing post harvest losses and increase farmers income and income security.
“As a humanitarian organization, we always try to ensure humanitarian needs are met.
“We as organization have laid down strategic plans to intervene to 10,000 beneficiaries with free medical drugs and other clinical services in hard-to-reach communities in Niger and Nasarawa States where they hardly have access to medical care or they cannot simply afford their medical bills before the end of 2020”. he asserted.
