BREAKING: Kogi Governorship: Muri wins inspection order at Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has granted a stay of execution of orders of the Court of Appeal which was delivered on favour of Ododo Ahmed Usman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Court of Appeal on 1st March 2024 upturned inspection of the Kogi State Governorship election materials, claiming that the APC legal team were not part of the exercise.

The SDP legal team led by Jibrin Okutepa,.SAN contended that all parties to the suit including lawyers to Kogi State Governor and the Independent Electoral Commission were notified on the inspection only for the APC legal team to decline.

On Thursday, Supreme Court restored and sustained orders G, K and N of the orders of Tribunal made on 25th November 2023.

Jibrin Okutepa,.SAN and Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa, SAN and other lawyers urged the Supreme Court to grant the application to avoid irreparable damages the orders of the Court of Appeal will cause the Petitioners.

The Supreme Court agreed and ordered for stay in terms of the reliefs sought in the motion filed on the 5th of March 2024. Motion on notice has been adjourned to 11th March 2024 for hearing.
