Zamfara gov’t’s plan to scrap Right of Way laudable – NCC boss
The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications, NCC has commended Zamfara State government for moves to scrap Right of Way, RoW, saying, it is a strategic move that will catalyse expansion of digital infrastructure and economic growth.
In his post on X handle, formerly Twitter, the NCC boss lauded governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State for his foresight in a move that will transform digital era in the State.
He said, the move will not be for Zamfara alone, but for Nigeria’s broader digital landscape, heralding a significant leap forward in the nation’s digital transformation journey.
Maida said, the removal of Right of Way charges will make deployment of telecommunications infrastructure easy and will facilitate the expansion of broadband networks across Zamfara State.
He said: “It will create an enabling environment for the proliferation of digital services, innovation, and entrepreneurship, driving socio-economic development and empowerment”, he said.
Dr. Maida underscored the pivotal role that such regulatory reforms play in unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s digital economy, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts between government, regulators, and industry stakeholders to accelerate digital infrastructure deployment nationwide.
He urged other States to borrow leaf from Zamfara State for rapid development and innovation of telecommunications sector.
