Ododo sets up Committee on Security in Omala Local Government

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo on Sunday announced the setting up of a Committee to advise the state government on how best to restore the safety and security of lives and property in Omala Local Government Area of the state in the wake of recent invasion by Fulani herdsmen.

Ododo who made the announcement when he received a delegation of critical stakeholders from the local government in Abuja, appointed the state’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Deedat Ozigis to chair the committee that will include representatives from all the districts in the local government, security agencies and all relevant individuals.

Change of Name

According to the governor, the state government is committed to protecting the lives and property of all Kogites and therefore has zero tolerance for the activities of bandits and other criminal elements.

He commended the people of Omala Local Government for taking the initiative to meet and make recommendations on the way forward, promising that the matter will be treated as a matter of urgency.

Ododo solicited the cooperation and support of the generality of Kogites to enable him implement his people-centred programmes, noting that the era of politicking has ended, giving way to the era governance.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of the communique issued by the Omala Local Government stakeholders after their meeting in Lokoja and the report of the Committee of traditional rulers set up by His Majesty, the Attah Igala on the Bagana crisis.
