Unilag crisis: Buhari sacks Babalakin, Ogundipe, constitutes visitation panel
Management crisis rocking the premier University of Lagos took a different dimension as President Muhammadu Buhari as visitor to the University of has constituted a Visitation Panel to look into the impasse in the university.
The report of disbandment of some management staff of the University in the crisis was monitored on the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) on Friday.
President Buhari has directed the Visitation Panel to the University to submit report of findings within two weeks.
“The Panel is to submit its report within two weeks.
“The Pro-Chancellor, Dr Wale Babalakin, SAN and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, have been suspended from office as they are both to recuse themselves from performing their functions in office during the period of the Visitation.
“The Senate is to convene urgently and appoint an Acting Vice-Chancellor for the university.
The decision by President Muhammadu Buhari suggested that the Acting Vice Chancellor who was purportedly appointed by Babalakin-led Council has been displaced.
CAPITAL POST reports that Dr. Wale Babalakin who is the Chairman of the Governing Council has sacked Prof. Ogundipe on allegations of fraud.
