9 passengers kidnapped in Kogi again
Reports said, nine passengers travelling from Kaba to Lokoja were on Saturday kidnapped by gun men in Oshokoshoko, along Kabba-Obajana-Lokoja road in Kogi State.
Those who were kidnapped are the driver of the vehicle, two students, four men and two women.
The incident occurred two weeks after two Umuahia-Abuja bound passenger buses were high jacked and passengers kidnapped at a community in Kogi East Senatorial District.
The kidnapped passengers in God Is Good, GIG motors who were 36 in numbers were later rescued by security agents including the local vigilante men after spending a week in the bush.
Meanwhile, Elupo Eliazer, a person with disability whose wife is among the victims, told journalists in Lokoja that kidnappers initially demanded N30 million but later reduced it to 2.6 million after negotiation.
“My wife and I were traveling to attend our church convention scheduled for Lokoja, but I decided to follow a different vehicle as the Toyota could not contain all of us; otherwise, I would have been in the car with her,” he said.
He said that the vehicle his wife boarded was ahead of the one he was travelling in but all the occupants of the vehicle were marched into the bush by the time his own vehicle got to the spot.
As at press time the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, promised to find out and get back with the details later.
