An All Progressives Congress (APC), National Working Committee member, Aare Tolu Bankole has commended the Government of Ogun state for its intervention through various empowerment initiatives to alleviate the plight of the masses following the rising cost of foodstuffs in the country.
Hon. Bankole, who described the interventions as a clear demonstration of empathy, lauded the Governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun for wiping away the tears of the most vulnerable population in Ogun and setting a pace for others to follow.
According to a statement he personally signed on Friday and made available to CAPITAL POST, Bankole stated that Governor Abiodun’s multi-sectoral interventions cut across: education, health, agriculture, civil service among others amount to approximately ₦5 billion.
The APC chieftain said the initiatives were to overcome the temporary economic situation which are necessary sacrifices for a better future.
“The impact of the interventions will reach: all 850,000 students in public primary and secondary schools in Ogun state. Cash grants to over 27,600 indigent students in various tertiary institutions nationwide. In the health sector, insurance health cover to over 70,000 beneficiaries, including pregnant women, children, the elderly, market women, and members of the informal sector.
“Also, food palliatives, including rice and other food items, will be provided to approximately 300,000 households across the state. While civil servants will continue to receive wage awards and other benefits”, he added.
Hon. Bankole said efforts must be made to ensure the well thought out interventions reach the intended target population of indigent students, vulnerable households, Persons With Disabilities (PWDS), the elderly and other vulnerable populations. He added that this will engender hope to the good people of Ogun state.
In his words, “I thank H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun for the show of understanding and courage during this challenging time. You have never hid your love and undivided attention to our dear state. This is part of the many reasons why the welfare of Ogun people has remained top priority of your administration.
“Let me urge you to continue to prioritize the people’s welfare as you are building infrastructures to make life more meaningful and better for our people and other residents of the gateway state in the long run.
“Finally, let me appreciate the people of Ogun for their support and prayers for this administration. Your commitment to building our future together has contributed largely to the success of this administration.
“I implore us to rededicate ourselves to the service of the state and join hands with this administration to deliver on its lofty vision for Ogun state.”
