Security attachees to Governor Yahaya Bello have gone beyond grumbling over the non payment of allowances in the last one year to subtle protest, CAPITAL POST has learnt.

Domestic staff of the government house who are also owed some allowances by the governor in the last one year have also been murmuring after waited to be paid to no avail.

Insider sources indicated that the tide of allowances changed after Yahaya Bello purportedly won the second tenure of office, when he suddenly developed cold feet and was not seeing payment of security allowances as a priority in the last one year.

Those affected are: Police, Road Safety, DSS, Traffic Warden and plain cloth police men as well as domestic staff of Kogi Governor who have no access to their travelling and other allowances since August last year.

Sources said, “this is far from what is obtainable in the previous administrations of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris and Capt Idris Wada when payment are made as at when due weekly, monthly and from time to time, but not span for months.

It was revealed that during the immediate past administration of Capt Idris Wada, delayed payment of securtiy and domestic staff allowance for just a month, led to threat to securtiy of lives of the governor and his wife, as the Police decline movement to and from Government House.

It was further revealed that allowances of the police and domestic staff is released as at when due, but diverted by the Governor’s office without any reason.

Sources confirmed that the worst is even happening at the Governor’s wive’s office,as payment to domestic staff had been denied for more than three years, but diverted into personal accounts.

The Accountant General’s office in Kogi state stressed that payment of domestic staff and securtiy details of the Governor, his Deputy and their wives is always on the first line charge,as they are not obliged to speak about it.

As at press time, there is no arrangement or information about payment of the security agents and domestic staff attached to the Governor and his Deputy.

The Governor had insisted that his re-election was paramount as at last year, and after the election, he insisted the litigation process required more attention than paying the domestic staffers.

Governor Yahaya Bello refusal to pay his immediate staff, may send wrong signals to other extended staff of his office.
