Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani: Empowering constituents through SDGs programmes

In the history of Adamawa State politics, the election of Distinguished Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani brought to fore the tolerable stance of the people of the state, towards the continuous inclusion of women in our political development and emancipation.

But the joy is that despite the presence of chunk of political stakeholders in the state, the election of Senator Aishatu Dahiru brought to three in the history of Adamawa politics, women Senators which include Senator Grace Bent and Senator Binta Garba Mashi and now the current 9th Assembly in the red chamber.

Binani not minding her first outing started on a sound footing by carrying along the welfare of her constituents at the front burner of her constituency projects.

As Chairman, Senate committee on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs her desire to bequeath the people of Adamawa Central Senatorial district in both social , economic, self sustenace programmes cannot be over emphasised.

Because of her love for Agriculture, she embarked on a wholistic and large scale distribution of fertilisers both to subsistence farmers and provided at affordable prices to mechanised farmers, so as to boost agrarian agricutural activities that will guarantee the economic situation of her constituents and by extension serve as a base for enhancement.

The unit to unit, ward to ward, local government to local government areas distribution of fertilisers, insecticides, improve seedlings and support to farmers in her constituency is capable of making Adamawa State as food basket of the nation.

Distinguished Senator Aisha Binani had succeeded in addressing the rising cost of fertilisers in the rainy/farming season, when predominant farmers are always exposed to high cost of fertilisers and other items, that will boost Agriculture programmes in the area.

Her transparent and due diligence adopted in the distribution of free fertilisers to Adamawa Central indigenes had encouraged the people of the area on the desire to go back to land so as to address poverty, lack and consequently underdevelopment of the area.

Aishatu Binani empowerment, capacity building and skill acquisition programme is also geared towards economic re-integration of her constituents to the main stream of our national life through providing and addressing unemployment rates,self developement and self sustenace to boost healthy living.

Provision of social services in the area of electricity, health and portable water, the Chairman Senate committee on Sustainable Development Goals SDGs had created an enabling environment meant to address social gaps created as a result of the urgent and pressing needs towards ameliorating the situation.

In Adamawa Central Senatorial district, developmental programmes that will relive people into the main stream of social and economic rejuvenation is being carried out in phases, to guarantee a healthy environment.

No doubt, one year in office, Distinguished Senator Aisha Ahmed Binani, Chairman Senate committee on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs had set a template to ensure the overall development of Adamawa Central Senatorial district in the current 9th Senate, and Nigeria at large.
