As former governor of Kogi State intensifies plot to unseat the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the party on Tuesday formally communicated him, saying, “there is no room for maneuver in the National Working Committee (NWC).”

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, stated that there was a resolution reached at the 141st meeting of the NWC to that effect, Ganduje remained the National Chairman of APC.

Change of Name

Morka’s reaction was at the backdrop of traction gained by Bello’s bid through promotional posters that littered all over Abuja endorsing him to take over from Ganduje as the National Chairman of APC.

Morka stated: “There is no vacancy in the office of the national chairman. Our national chairman remains the chairman. This is democracy; people do what they want. We have total confidence in the leadership of the party. Those who are posting these papers around should desist from doing so.”

Bello has been plotting for Ganduje’s removal as Chairman of the APC, claiming that the seat was North Central’s slot which the Senator Abdullahi Adamu from Nasarawa State did not finish before he was replaced with Ganduje.

The party’s spokesperson also disclosed plans to launch the update of the party’s membership register in Niger State. He outlined, “To flag off the update of membership registration nationally in Niger State, then flag off in one state in each of the other geo-political zones.”

While also expressing concern over a separate issue, Morka denounced the refusal of the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly to swear in 16 APC House members recognized by the Court of Appeal.

He labeled the Speaker and the state governor’s actions as wrong, undemocratic, and a blatant disregard for the authority of the Court of Appeal, the highest court for determining election petition matters concerning the House of Assembly.
