A neighbor of the victims narrated that the heavily armed bandits arrived the Phase 2 area of the estate at about 10.00pm and started shooting sporadically before abducting their victims.

The neighbour, Austine John, who spoke to journalists, revealed that the lawyer, Adikwu was around when the gunmen stormed his residence, but managed to escape, adding that it was a harrowing experience as such has never happened in the estate before.

The abduction is one of the many of its kind in Abuja which the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has assured residents that government would not condone banditry and any form of attack on FCT residents any more.

John said: “It all started at about 10:00. We suddenly started hearing gunshots, and immediately we knew something was wrong. I quickly went out to make sure my gate was well locked.

He described the development as harrowing, while stressing the fear amongst residents throughout the night, with security measures being taken by the estate’s management and the subsequent arrival of army personnel.
