Okocha visits Super Eagles ahead of Ivory Coast clash
Former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha, popularly known as Jay-Jay Okocha visited the camp of the Super Eagles in Ivory Coast on Wednesday. The visit is coming ahead of Nigeria’s Super Eagles Matach against the Cote d’Ivoire Elephants scheduled for Thursday.
This was revealed in videos shared on the official X handle of the Super Eagles on Thursday. In one of the videos, the players were seen singing and dancing excitedly with Okocha.
Other trending videos on X revealed that the former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, and the Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau, also visited the camp of the Super Eagles. The Super Eagles will play its second TotalEnergies CAF AFCON match on Thursday (today) against Ivory Coast’s Elephants.
In an interview with CAF on Wednesday, Okocha gave his thoughts about what will be the key for the Super Eagles to win the host’s team. He said, “I think what the key will be is experience, desire, and state of mind.
For me, they are professionals, and they know the importance of this match, I think their mindset will be the key. “Every match is difficult but when you play the host country, it is even more difficult. But, of course, the beauty of football is that if you want to be champions, you have to win against the best.
“And as we know, in football, every match is difficult. If you are well prepared, you have a chance of winning your match. But, we Nigerians, we know that it will be a difficult match but also, we believe that we have enough potential to be able to win this match.” Credit: X| NGSuperEagles
