Loko, a river side too local to host Kano former Emir – Abubakar Sabo

Alhaji Abubakar Sabo, Emir of Loko in Nasarawa State in an interview with Voice of America (VOA), Hausa service said the ancient Loko town is undeveloped and too remote to host the Kano former Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

Change of Name

“Loko town is a river side settlement in Nasarawa local government council in Nasarawa State, North Central Nigeria.

“The fishing town by the bank of River Benue used to be an attractive place to colonist who travelled on the River Benue to access areas that they administered.

“It served as the entry points to Northen Nigeria from the middle Belt for the British imperialist.

“Loko is also called London Loko because of some relics of the colonial masters which attracts tourists and families, British citizens who periodically come to study and research on where their people used to live and work in the days of the old and the graves of famuos British royal army who died in the line of duty and who were buried in Loko in 1915.

“Loko-Oweto Bridge is under construction.

When asked this morning by Voice of America (Hausa) reporter on how he feels about Sanusi being exiled to his small domain, he said he wasnt sure of what to feel because this place is too interior for a widely travelled and educated person like Sanusi.

“But since its the wish of Allah he has nothing to say but welcome the former emir.

“Dethroned Sanusi arrived the village by midnight and checked into an undisclosed house.

What do you think of Sanusi’s new home by the bank of River Benue where he will spend the rest of his life?
