Kogi LG polls: Commissioner tells when Council election will hold
Kogi State Independent Electoral Commissioner (KOSIEC) representing Okene/Ogori Magogo, Yakubu Chogudo said that the Commission was determined to conduct a free and fair Local Government Council election this year.
The SIEC Commissioner said the Council polls has been much awaited, but will take place before the year runs out.
Chogudo disclosed this when when he paid a courtesy call on the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters in charge of Okene Local Government Council, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad on Friday in Okene.
The Commissioner praised the Special Assistant to the Governor for his laudable effort at ensuring that lives and properties of the people in Okene LG are protected in line with the mandate handed out to him.
He insisted that the Commission would conduct a credible, free and fair LGA election at its best time.
Reacting, Hon. Abdulrazaq assured the KOSIEC Commissioner of his readiness to cooperate with the commission.
“I look forward to a credible and peaceful local government election in the state that will be a model for others. We shall abide by the rules and regulations of the commission and indeed all the extant laws as we prepare for the poll,” he said.
