Edo Guber: Hon Anamero Dekeri declares intention to run, calls for abolition of zoning
House of Representatives Member representing Etsako Federal Constituency, Anamero Sunday Dekeri has stressed the need for the abolition of rotational governance in Nigeria.
Hon. Dekeri stated this while declaring his intention to run for the Edo state governorship election on Thursday in Abuja.
Addressing journalists, the honourable member who opined that it is time for Nigeria to do away with rotational politics stressed that candidates with proven capacity be allowed to run for political offices irrespective of their zones in the country.
Speaking on his intention, Hon. Dekeri said he is committed to transforming the education sector and industrializing the state.
“My vision for Edo state is one of progress, prosperity and pride. I aspire to create an environment where every child has access to quality education, the youth are equipped with skills for the future, and our industries flourish, generating employment and driving economic growth. Together, we can build an Edo state that exemplifies good governance, with the welfare of the people at the forefront of every decision.
“I am committed to transparent and accountable leadership, prioritizing the needs of the people. We will work together to eradicate corruption, create a conducive business environment, and ensure that the benefits of democracy reach every corner of our beloved state.
“Edo state is a diverse tapestry of cultured. And I embrace this diversity as a source of strength. My administration will foster unity, building bridges and creating an atmosphere where every citizen feels a sense of belonging and contributes to the collective progress of Edo state”, he said.
The governorship aspirant however urged the ruling APC to be cautious in deciding the candidate to carry the party flag in the September 21, 2024 Edo election.
He said, “To the distinguished members ot our great party, the All Progressives Congress, I implore you to exercise your power with the discernment and foresight in deciding who will carry our party’s flag. The future of our party and Edo state is in our hands and i trust that you will make a decision that will shape the destiny of our beloved state positively”.
