Deputy Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu has been warned by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, against using the organization to advance his political interest.

The group said, it discovered that Benjamin Kalu has lately been using the name of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in some political activities, a development they said, was a pursuit of his personal political interest.

Change of Name

According to them, the Deputy Speaker claims to be working for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, but was never genuine in his claims.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful and obtained by CAPITAL POST in Abuja, IPOB insisted that they have gone beyond Deputy Speaker’s pretenses, hence, they were aware of his political ulterior motive.

Kanu has been in detention since he was arrested and repatriated from Kenya by Nigeria’s Department of State Security, DSS during the former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in 2021.

Since his repatriation, there has been legal fireworks for his bail to no avail.

The statement read partly, “Kalu has constantly been on the print and social media claiming of working hard for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“IPOB and Kanu have become a daily song for him, but he does not have any genuine interest in the IPOB struggle nor the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from the Federal Government’s persecution and illegal detention
