Thilo Kehrer set to leave West Ham in next 48 hours
Thilo Kehrer is reportedly set to leave West Ham in the next 48 hours, with the defender set to join AS Monaco on loan. The Germany international has hardly featured for David Moyes side this season, with Kehrer yet to start a Premier League game for West Ham.
And as a result, a January transfer is now in the works for the former PSG defender, with Kehrer now closing in on a return to France with Monaco. According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the 27-year-old centre-back will travel in the next 48 hours to join the Ligue 1 side on loan, with Monaco having a €10m (£8.5m) option to sign Kehrer in the summer. Given how little Kehrer has played for West Ham this season, this loan deal could be perfect for all parties, especially if the defender flourishes in Monaco.
Once labelled as a ‘complete player’ by Hansi Flick, Kehrer can rediscover his best form back in France, with West Ham clearly looking to move on from the German defender.
With a decent payday potentially on the cards for West Ham, the Irons will be keeping an eye on Kehrer’s development in Monaco with great interest. Whilst a figure close to £9m isn’t the greatest sum in the world, it’s certainly better than what West Ham have received for most players who haven’t worked out well in east London in recent years.
And Kehrer could do that with ease at Monaco, with the defender returning to a league he is familiar with and joining a top club with big European aspirations.
