Female Lawyers group to partner with relevant agencies against domestic violence in society

The African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA) Niger State chapter will partner with relevant agencies in the state to fight against domestic violence Particularly against girl child and the vulnerable in the state.

The state chairperson of the Association Hajiya Uma Mohammed stated this in a press release made available to Journalists in Minna Tuesday.

Change of Name

She stated that the Association as an non governmental organization (NGO) was established across Africa continents aimed at providing the needed Protection to girl child women and the vulnerables in the society.

She explained that AWLA as an association is not competing with the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA)
” but members of AWLA has some relevant collaboration in fighting the same causes”

The association, according to the state chairperson,an African based with branches across the African countries with branches across the 36 states of the country and the FCT

The chairperson announced that the association in Niger state will soon embark on sensitization and enlightenment programs across some selected girls secondary schools in the state to enlighten the students on the activities of the association in the state.

Equally, she disclosed that the association will inform the students to protect themselves against any act of sexual molestation against them emphasizing that the association will collaborate with the state Ministry of women affairs and other relevant stakeholders in ensuring the total eradication of violence against women and girl child.

She then enjoined members of the public and all the critical stakeholders and civil society organization (CSOs) in the state to partner with AWLA so as to achieve the set objective of the protection of girl child women as well as the vulnerable.
