Former Chief Judge of Niger, Ndajiwo dies at 68

Justice Jibrin Ndatsu Ndajiwo died in the early hour of Tuesday, 11th of August, 2020 in his hometown, Doko in Lavun Local Government Area. He died after a protracted ilness at the age of 68.

Justice Jibrin Ndatsu Ndajiwo was the second indegenous Chief Judge of Niger for 22 years.

Change of Name

He retired from the service of the Niger State Judiciary as the Chief Judge in 2013.

The former Chief Judge of Niger State, was during his time as the chief judge, committed to the speedy administration of criminal Justice in the state as his annual visit to correctional facilities in the state brought about sigh of reliefs to inmates.

Justice Ndajiwo within his 22 years sojourn as the chief judge, saw the employment of the present crop of Magistrates in the service of the Niger State Judiciary.

Among the early callers to his Doko home town are the Chief Judge of Niger State Justice Mohammed Aliyu Mayaki; the Grand Khadi of NIger State, Justice Danjuma Mohammed; the Chief Registrar of the Niger State Judiciary, Alhaji Hamza Mua’azu, among other top goverment functionaries within and outside Niger State.

He is survived by six children and grand children, among his children is Ahmed Jibrin Ndatsu Ndajiwo of the Federal Capital Territory( FCT) , Judiciary Magisterial Division.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with CAPITAL POST in Minna,.the Chairman Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Minna Branch Barrister Mohammed Abubakar El-Surur described the late Justice Jibrin Ndajiwo, as a disciplinarian that needed the right thing to be done for quick result during his days as the chief Judge.

He said his tenure as the chief judge brought about development in the state Judiciary, adding that he has left a vacuum that would be hard to fill.

He described the late chief judge of Niger State as a man that, “can hardly see any thing negative about him. You can like him and the same time see the other side of him in positive way.

“Ndajiwo did his own time and left some legacy behind as the chief judge of Niger State while he served meritoriously as the longest serving chief judge in Niger State”, the Chief Judge said.
