Policing: NASS canvasses increase in budget allocation for Police Service Commission

Senate and House of Representatives Joint committee on Police Affairs has canvassed for increment in budgetary allocation for the Police Service Commission (PSC) for effective policing in Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of Joint Committee, the chairman Senate committee of Police Affairs sen.Amb.Abdulhaid Malam Madori stated this during the Commission 2024 budget presentation on Monday at the National Assembly in Abuja.

Change of Name

According to him,considering the task before the Commission, the proposed budget of the commission is not realistic to meet up President Bola Tinubu renewed hope agenda.

He says, National Assembly under the leadership of Sen. Goodwill Akpabo take issue of security serious that Senate is ready to support the Commission to enable them perform their duty to alleviate the suffering of Nigeria police.

He lamented over the poor implementation of budget as one of the major problems of Nigeria but he believes that President Bola Tinubu with the support of 10th National Assembly led by Senate president Godwill Akpabo all Nigeria will fill the impact of budget of renewed hope by the President.

He says , President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government cannot deliver on its Renewed Hope Agenda without undertake critical projects like insecurity, and other infrastructure.

Responding, the chairman police Service Commission (PSC) Ex-IGP Solomon Arase told the committee that under his leadership, Nigerians will see Police with different if properly funded.

According to him, on his assumption in the Office, he has introduced some reform effective and workable policing in Nigeria.

He thank the committee for their support to make Nigeria a crime free society.
