The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Nasarawa West Senatorial candidate in the last general elections, Dr Mohammed Kabiru Wakili has dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The leadership of APC, Keffi Local Government Area in Nassarawa state, led Dr. Wakili to the party headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.

Change of Name

Receiving the decampee, the APC National Legal Adviser, Professor Abdul Karim Abubakar Kana appreciated the team for bringing Wakili back to the fold.
“I must thank all of you for taking your time out to come to the Secretariat to visit us. And we’ll also congratulate the chairman who led them and the entire executive committee from Keffi Local Government Council APC for the big catch, bringing our brother, our elder, the former senatorial candidate of the NNPP, back to the APC, back to our fold, and the effort they also continue to make in bringing more members into the APC.”

Kana noted that Dr. Wakili’s come back to APC is in line with the policy of the current leadership of the party whose focus is to have a big and healthy party.

“The policy of the present administration of the party under the able leadership of His Excellency, Abdullahi Umaru Ganduje, is to see that as much as possible, the party gets more members to reinvigorate and revitalize the party to make the party bigger and stronger. The party’s doors are open to new memberships.”

The APC Legal Adviser also assured the party members that the leadership tussles and other crisis in Keffi LGA would be looked into as requested.

He said, “We have listened very carefully to the complaints that have come from the exco over the leadership of the executive committee of the Local Government Committee of Keffi and a letter has been brought to us.

“I can assure you that the letter will be treated accordingly, and the action will be taken in line with the constitutional provisions of the APC. So that at the end of the day, at least calm, some peace, and orderliness will be brought back to the APC in Keffi Local Government.

“I can assure you that we will do everything within our power to see that normalcy is brought back and then solve the issues that you have raised and complained about regarding the leadership of the APC in Keffi. It will be resolved amicably by the grace of the Almighty God.

Kana also congratulated the exco for ensuring that the Local Government gave APC the highest votes in Nasarawa state in the last general elections.

“In terms of the proportion of votes in the last elections, all elections, Keffi Local Government gave APC the highest number of votes in Nasarawa state.

“For this, I really must acknowledge your efforts. I must thank you very much for what you have done. What assurance I must convey to you is that it will not go unnoticed, and the National Chairman and the party will ensure that you all get rewarded for the effort you have made in ensuring that the party becomes victorious.”

On his part, Dr Mohammed Kabiru Wakili experssed confidence that the APC will keep waxing stronger under the leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje as it is committed to transforming the country.

“We thank Almighty Allah for uniting the APC, under the leadership of our father, His Excellency, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje. Anyone who saw what he did recently knows that APC is actively working.

“By the grace of Almighty Allah, in the 2027 elections, APC will emerge as the best political party in Nigeria, facing challenges from other parties, mergers, or whatever else may come. APC stands as a united party in the whole of West Africa.

“Recall, 17 to 20 years ago, there was a powerful party called PDP. Now, it is APC’s turn to lead. With these elements in place, we call on every politician to embrace peace because APC, despite inheriting many problems, is working towards progress. The emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the president is crucial. Without APC, the Nigerian economy would have been in a dire state,” he said.
