Ondo: President Tinubu summons deputy governor, Speaker as crisis lingers
In moves to resolve the lingering political crisis in Ondo State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has summoned the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji to Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
The planned meeting has been slated for Monday (today) according to multiple sources within the political circle in Akure.
The crisis was triggered by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s terminal sickness which has not made him stable in office in his second term.
The emergency meeting will be the second one summoned by the President to resolve the leadership crisis in the state following the governor’s absence from office since July 2023.
It is recalled that Tinubu had met with political leaders from Ondo, deputy governor and Akeredolu’s cabinet members and aides to resolve the political impasse on November 24.
Tinubu was expected to ask political leaders to allow the deputy governor to act on behalf of the ailing Akeredolu.
