Cold war in Kaduna: Uba Sani, El-Rufai political godfatherism collapsed in few months
The cold war between the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai and his political godson and Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani deepened on Friday, 8th December, 2023 as El-Rufai paid a condolence visit to Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Council of Kaduna State without Governor Uba Sani.
The former Governor could be seen in company of the former Emir of Kano State and ex-Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Muhammadu Sanusi Lamido II on a condolence visit to the victims of the mistaken drone bomb attack.
Findings by CAPITAL POST on Sunday revealed that El-Rufai and Uba Sani are currently at each other’s jugular over political issues and both met one on one last when El-Rufai failed to secure ministerial appointment.
They were both together when Uba Sani accompanied him to the National Assembly for the ministerial screening and after the exercise, Sani, El-Rufai and other political appointees accompanied the former governor to the office of his son and member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai in Abuja.
The cold war was so deepened that no member of Governor Uba Sani’s cabinet was allowed to hobnob with the former governor, hence, no one dares to visit him when he comes to Kaduna or while in Abuja, even as those who were appointed into the cabinet through El-Rufai have read between the lines and have shifted loyalty to the governor.
A post on the Facebook wall of one, Muyiwa Adekeye further confirm the political animosities between the duo as neither Uba Sani, nor any member of his cabinet was on the entourage of El-Rufai while on a visit to the victims of bomb attack in Tudun Biri community.
The post read: “CONDOLENCE: Malam Nasir @lrufai and HH Muhammadu Sanusi II today visited Tudun Biri, Igabi LGA of Kaduna State, to condole with the people in the aftermath of the bombing of the community.”
El-Rufai is the immediate past governor of Kaduna State who handed over to Uba Sani on May 29, 2023
