Plot is afoot to attack and burn down the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Lokoja.

The sinister plot was uncovered after Court approval for the Social Democratic Party Governorship candidate in the November 11 election, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka was granted approval by the Kogi State Governorship Election Tribunal to have access to election materials.

Change of Name

This was contained in a distress call on secueity agencies to rise in protection of the INEC office, before the plot is hatched.

The statement which was signed by Isaiah Davies Ijele, DG New Media, MuriSam Campaign
Council, which was made available to CAPITAL POST in Lokoja on Sunday pointed out that the plot to burn down the INEC office was arranged to be carried out in the night.

The statement reads: “This is to notify the security institutions of the state, the media and general public of plans to burn down the office of the Kogi State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“It has come to our notice via grave vines that there is an urgent need for security to be beefed around the Kogi State INEC office in order to avert the sinister plot to burn down the office by mandate bandits.

“We are calling on the relevant security formations to swing into action to prevent the burning down of that office and to secure all the Electoral materials used in the just concluded Gubernatorial election in Kogi state.

“They want to burn down the building housing those sensitive materials on the guise of a fire outbreak and with the aim of damaging all evidence of rigging.

“We will like the whole world to know that if anything happen to the sensitive materials as ordered by the court to be inspected by the solicitors of the SDP , Governor Yahaya Bello should be held responsible as the chief security officer of the state.”

Meanwhile, CAPITAL POST reported on Saturday that the governorshio election Tribunal has ordered the INEC to allow SDP access to election materials within 48 hours.
