Female politician chairs ‘Mokin Day’ celebration, calls for greater participation in community development
The just concluded 44th anniversary Mokin Day celebration held on the 18th of November, 2023 at Alara-Mokin’s palace was adjudged to be a huge success and first of its kind in the history of the event.
Elated by the record, the Chairperson of this year’s edition, Mrs Seun Bosede Osamaye (a.k.a) Eyeomo has congratulated all illustrious sons and daughters of Ilara Mokin who came out in their numbers from far and near to make this year celebration colourful and superlative.
Recall that Mokin Day is a unique day set aside in mostly on every November for all Ilara Mokin sons and daughters to garther from all over the world to celebrate and also embark on developmental projects for the community.
As the Chairperson of the 44th edition of the Mokin Day, Osamaye, a member of the ruling All Progressive Party (APC) and a grassroots politician, while delivering her speech said, the love, honour and unity that exists within the Orisaranmilaye Family was made evident when they came out in their numbers to pay homage to the king (Oba Abiodun Adefehinti, Agbekorun II, Alara of Ilara-mokin).
She noted that giving, impacting lives and rendering help to the less privileged is not a function of the position one occupies whether elective or appointee but a personal and deliberate efforts to make lives better for people all around you.
According to her, “If we all play our parts in community development without waiting for government, then our society will be better and the people will be happy.
“She also thanked God Almighty for sparing the lives of the people and also thanked the Egbe Omo ilara Mokin for their immense contributions in infrastructure and other developmental projects, describing it as unparalleled in the entire State. She equally expressed gratitude to the King, his Queen, the Chiefs and the entire community for counting her worthy of the honour to be the Chairperson of this year’s occasion.
In her words: “I really appreciated the support I received from all sons and daughters of Mokin as the chairperson of the 44th edition of Mokin Day, which made this year’s edition a huge success,” she said.
The event which took place on Friday at the Alara of ilara-Mokin’s palace witnessed a second to none attendance and was accompanied with unprecedented blessings to all. The climax of the event was a launch of five hundred million fund raising for development project in the community.
The sons and daughters have made a pact to contribute their quota to the development of their immediate community and that, they will always do.
Recall that Ilara-Mokin is located in the central part of Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State. Ilara-Mokin is about 12 km from Akure, the Ondo state capital. The town boasts of great sons and daughters such as Michael Ade-Ojo, a businessman and founder of Elizade University located in Ilara too, late Alhaji Wahab Adegbenro, Nigerian Physician, late Dele Ojo, Nigerian musician and performer, who was a prominent musician in the Juju genre of music and our dear Amazon, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, (Immediate Past First Lady of Ekiti State).
