Mummy Calm Down: Edo police arrests husband, commences investigation
The Edo State Police Command has arrested the husband of late Mrs. Toluige Olokoobi Babalola, alias ‘Mummy Calm Down’, who was reported to have allegedly committed suicide in Benin City.
Mrs. Babalola, a mother of three, became popular in 2020 in a viral video in which her son, after offending her, knelt down, saying “Mummy calm down, mummy calm down”.
The arrested husband has told the police that he came home and found his wife hanging with rope on her neck.
Spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, revealed this while confirming that the deceased’s husband, a driver and car dealer, has been arrested and detained by the police.
Nwabuzor also stated that said the husband told the police that he came home from the market to meet his wife hanging with a rope around her neck, and he alerted the neighbours who followed him to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead. Her remains were deposited in a mortuary.
The spokesperson added that the husband is still with the police and will be handed over to detectives for further investigation.
