Reactions has trailed some female Ebira cult group as they reported the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka to an ‘alijenu deity’ they believed has superstitious powers.

Dressed in white apparel and white head tie, the Ebira female cult group could be seen in a video which has gone viral, invoking and making incantations that there should be confusion in Igala land on the day of election.

Change of Name

Speaking in Ebira language, the group members of about 40 in number could be seen kneeling round the chief female priest with kolanut and calabash as incantation is being made to it.

The All Progressives Congress, APC banner carrying the photograph of the Governorship candidate of APC, Ododo Ahmed Usman with the cult group name “ONOKU” was displayed while incantations were pronounced with a chorus amen.

As the object in the calabash could not be clearly seen, the female priest appealed to “alijenu deity” to deliver Ododo and Ebira land in the governorship election.

The development has triggered reactions on the watsap group where the video was uploaded on Sunday.

CAPITAL POST reports that the Governorship election slated for November 11 was getting tougher by the day as candidates contesting election have been embarking on the last minute electioneering campaign.

Alijenu deity is a spirit believed to have superstitious powers to intervene in issues in matters that are beyond humans and this is believed among the Igala, Ebira and other people in the middle-belt region of Nigeria.
