Ghastly motor accident claims seven lives in Osun

Seven persons have been reportedly killed in a ghastly motor accident along the Osogbo-Gbongan highway in Osun State on Friday.
Ten persons were in the vehicle that got involved in the accident which was close to Sasa bridge on Friday evening.

The single vehicle, a private Nissan Sharon with plate No. WW D574 AE was said to have been on uncontrolled speed by the driver in the evening at about 7.40 thereby resulted to an accident that claimed seven lives on the spot, while three sustained various degree of injuries.

Change of Name

Addressing the incident, the Osun State Sector Commander, Mr Henry Benamaisia, explained that three of the deceased victims, who were Osun natives, were taken to Odeomu by their relatives.

At the same time, the remaining four were transported to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Osogbo by the FRSC rescue team.

He emphasised that the injured victims are presently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital, adding that all accident victims’ belongings have been handed over to the police.

The sector commander warned motorists against over speeding and the consumption of alcoholic drinks, as they can lead to tragic consequences.
