The set of 2019/2020 Law Students of the Benue State University, Makurdi are groaning over unpaid bursary allowances by the governor, Samuel Ortom.
They appealed to the Benue State Government to release the unpaid bursary allowances meant for Benue State Law indigent students who successfully graduated from the University and gained admission into the Nigeria Law School.
In a statement made available to CAPITAL POST on Sunday in Abuja by the leader of the students, Ahura Smith Mkavter, “It is a norm that any time Benue State law students successfully graduate from the University and gain admission into the Nigeria Law School, the State Government will give them some stipends to mitigate the exorbitant expenses incurred in the Law School but for a very long time now the money have not been paid.
“We the set 2019/2020 have been pursuing this grants for over a year now but to no meaningful development.
“So we are appealing to the state Governor Dr Samuel Ortom to please as a father, look into our plights.
He said that even though they had studied under harsh atmospheric condition they still cheated failure by gloriously triumphing at the just released Bar final results.
“Our formal confirmation as the Barristers and Solicitors by the Supreme Court Of Nigeria will be in few weeks to come.
“Sir it’s glaring that at this 59th minute we are thousands of miles away from getting this financial support which will help us mitigate our Call To Bar expenses.”
