A notorious thug, Abas Abas, alias Artillery was on Saturday noon gunned down and left in the pool of blood on the street of Anyigba in Dekina Local Government Council.

The deceased who hails from Agbeji, a community close to Anyigba and a graduate of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba was said to have killed another rival thug recently and disappeared into thin air.

Change of Name

Upon sighting on the street in front of the popular Grimard Hospital, they opened fire on him in revenge.

According to inquiries by CAPITAL POST at Anyigba, Abas Abas who was an All Progressives Congress member worked for for the party as a thug who killed another rival of his and has not been seen since then.

The eye witness account at Anyigba, said the State Governor, Yahaya Bello on Saturday paid a scheduled visit to Ankpa to give a staff of office to the Ejeh of Ankpa, hence, thugs have a field day showcasing their strenght with sporadic shootings.

For the deceased who’s lifeless body spent hours on the street, as nobody was willing to evacuate his remains initially, there were conflicting reports as to the cause of his death.

Not withstanding that Abas Abas has been confirmed by CAPITAL POST as a member and a thug working for APC, the cause of his death, another source said, was due to infighting among themselves over governor’s largesse to them.

Late Saturday, the Social Democratic Party, SDP Campaign Organisation in a statement issued by the Director of New Media, Isaiah Davies Ijele blamed Dekina Local Government Council Chairman, Ishaq Okolo for orchestrating sporadic shooting in Anyigba by his entourage who comprise of thugs.

The statement which was obtained by CAPITAL POST said two people have just been confirmed dead.

The statement read: “The thugs that died was killed by their own APC thugs and information has it that it’s was rivalry or sharing formula tussles because the Governor was there today!!

“Soldiers arrested them with two Siena cars loaded with Arms, but Isaka the Local Government chairman is following them to rescue those arrested by Soldiers.

“We are calling on IG, DSs and the Federal Government to declare the state of Emergency now in Kogi state.”
