Naira Marley arrested, taken into custody in Lagos over MohBad’s death
Singer Afeez Fashola, popularly called Naira Marley has been arrested by the Police upon his arrival from abroad.
He was arrested in Lagos over the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly called Mohbad.
Mohbad died in Lagos on September 12 under unclear circumstances which there have been public outrage.
The arrest of Naira Marley has been confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement on Tuesday night which he made available to journalists.
“Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities,” Hundeyin noted on his X (former Twitter) account late Tuesday.
Naira Marley earlier promised to assist the police in the investigation of circumstances that led to the death of the late singer, having denied that he had hands in Mohbad’s demise.
Marley earlier wrote on his X (Twitter) saying: “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria, to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation.
“It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail,” the singer said earlier.
