In a recent press release, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has unveiled its plans for a mock accreditation of voters ahead of the highly anticipated off-cycle Governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, scheduled for Saturday, November 11th, 2023.

In a statement issued on Monday, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee,Sam Olumekun mni, said the Commission convened to review the preparations for these pivotal elections. The focal point of their discussions was the utilization of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the uploading of polling unit results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

He said, “To ensure the seamless execution of these processes on Election Day, INEC intends to conduct a test run simultaneously in the three aforementioned States.

“This pivotal test of the BVAS and IReV systems is set to occur on Saturday, October 14th, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. A maximum of three polling units in each Senatorial District, totaling nine Senatorial Districts and 27 polling units across the three States, have been selected for this crucial exercise. INEC aims to draw valuable insights from this endeavor to optimize the electoral process for the official Election Day.

“For the convenience of the public, comprehensive details regarding the selected polling units, including their locations by Local Government Area (LGA), Registration Area (RA)/Ward, Delimitation Code, and the number of registered voters, have been made available on INEC’s official website and social media platforms.”

“The Commission earnestly appeals to all registered voters residing in these designated polling units to participate in this test by bringing their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) to the exercise. It is imperative to note that this accreditation exercise serves solely as a preparatory test and is not the actual election,”he said.
