BREAKING: Police exhumes late singer, Mohbad’s body for autopsy

Amid controversy trailing the death of pop star and music maestro, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, with a stage name, Mohbad, the police has revealed that his corpse has been exhumed for autopsy.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, on social media.
The late singer died at the age of 27 after he was reportedly treated of infection, but his death has been a subject of controversy of sorts.

Change of Name

Thousands of his fans took to streets across states demanding for justice.

Following the unrest, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun ordered for investigation into the circumstances that surrounded his death.

Acting on the Inspector General’s directive, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, constituted a 10-man team, including a pathologist, to exhume and investigate Mohbad’s death.

CAPITAL POST recalled that Naira Marley has been fingered in the controversy following the late Mohbad’s complaint in October 2022, singer Naira Marley assaulted him and stated that Marley had ordered people to beat him up after he announced his intention to hire a different manager.

After MohBad’s death, it was reported that he had filed a police report in June 2023 alleging that Samson Erinfolami Balogun, a music promoter nicknamed “Sam Larry” and a known associate of Marley’s, had assaulted him and destroyed some of his property.

“:In the report, MohBad said that Larry had interrupted a video shoot, leading a group of 15 men armed with firearms and cutlasses.

The Police PRO had confirmed the exhumation process, saying, “The exhumation is currently ongoing. We have here a team of health officials from the state ministry of health led by CP Owohunwa. The CP is also expected to visit Mohbad’s father later in the day.”
