VON missing journalist found dead in soakaway in Zamfara

Mr Hamisu Danjibga, a reporter with the Voice of Nigeria, VON, who was declared missing has been found dead three days after.

His body was found in a soakaway behind his house, according to a statement released on Thursday by the secretary, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zamfara council, Ibrahim Gada.

Change of Name

The National Union of Journalists, NUJ, Zamfara State Council in the statement regretted that one of their members, was found dead, following an foul odour observed by the Islamiya children in the evening of Wednesday.

Part of the statement said: “The discovery of his corpse was a result of an unpleasant odour observed by Islamiya Children in the evening of Wednesday 20th September 2023 who drew the attention of their teachers.

“After breaking the soakaway the dead body was confirmed to be that of Danjibga by his family and some neighbors. His funeral rites have since been observed according to Islamic injunctions.

While condoling the family and friends of the late journalist, the Council expressed over the killing of Danjibga and appeal to security agencies to go after the perpetrators with a view to bring them to justice.
