Niger LG Palliative Committee commences distribution of food items

The Chairperson of Bosso Local Government Council of Niger State
Rakiya Ladidi Bawa Bosso has commences distribution of palliative food items to reaidenta.

She stated in an interview with journalists at the Council Secretariat while flagging off the distribution of the commodities

She stated that the council was given the sum of N100 million by the state government for purchase of the commodities as was collectively agreed among the critical stakeholders in the area that the money should be used for the purchase of the needed grains.

According to the council chairperson, who also doubled as the secretary of palliative committee of Bosso local government, a total of 1000 bags of 50 kg foreign rice was bought at the rate of N49,000 each, and a total of 5,229 cartons of indomie noodles was bought at the rate N5,200 per cartons adding that a total of 2,739 cartons of spaghetti was bought at the rate of N8,700 per carton to be distributed to the 249 units of the local government

She explained that the 1000 bags of rice was repakaged to 5 kilograms this she stated that will go round the units to be shared among the residents of communities regardless of political affiliations

Hajiya Rakiya Ladidi Bawa Bosso further explained that the decision to make the bulk purchase of commodities was arrived at after a wider consultation with respective Councilors and other stakeholders in the local government area, assuring that the beneficiary communities will collect the items at appropriate time.

She said the committee members also made their personal contribution of N20 milion for transportation, logistics and loading and offloading of the commodities as well as security escorts to the respective destinations.

Speaking further, Ladidi stated that the distance within communities in the local government will be given the needed priority in the distribution of the commodities before the nearby community, stressing that it will douse the anxiety that pervaded the distribution of the palliative.

She assured that with the level of security that will serve as escort, the items will reach the designated destination.

“Without any fear of diverting the items as the vigilante commanders of the community will be there to supervise the distribution.”
