BREAKING: Suspected ‘Abu Odoma boys’ set Maikano Diesel Generator donated by Muri ablaze overnight at Idah LG
Suspected thugs loyal to Idah Local Government Chairman popularly called ‘Abu Odoma boys’ on Monday night invaded the Idah Local Government Council Secretariat and set ablaze the only multi-million naira Maikano Diesel Generator servicing the Council Secretariat and powering street lights in the metropolis.
The Maikano Diesel Generator was donated to Idah Local Government Council by the Social Democratic Party governorship candidate, Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka few years ago when he was a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Until Monday night before the generator was set ablaze, lights on streets of Idah Local Government and the entire Secretariat was powered by the generator for past years.
Speaking with CAPITAL POST in Lokoja on Tuesday, a resident who simply identified himself as ‘Okpami’ confirmed the thugs behind the incident and after he availed the burnt picture of the generator, lamented the dangerous turn out of politics in Idah by the boys who have vowed that the APC candidate must be voted. He said, gunshots have been a recurring development to get people scared, particularly those who are not loyal to APC.
He revealed that plans are afoot to attack solar lights provided by Muritala Yakubu Ajaka at Idah, Ajaka, Odolu, Ofu and other Local Government Council Areas in the Kogi East Senatorial District. A claim that CAPITAL POST could not confirm as at the press time, but it could be recalled that the Maikano Diesel Generator servicing Radio Kogi, Ochaja which was donated by the SDP governorship candidate in the November 11 election was set ablaze by suspected thugs loyal to the APC few weeks ago.
Ochaja is in Dekina Local Government in Kogi East Senatorial district.
Recently, the Idah Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abu Odoma was seen a video which has gone viral in company of boys singing solidarity songs for the candidature of Ododo Ahmed Usman of the APC, with several gunshots at the background. The arms bearing boys who were releasing gunshots didn’t show their faces in the video.
