We are still investigating Muri over attack on Yahaya Bello – Kogi Police Command
Kogi State Police Command said, the Social Democratic Party governorship candidate in the November 11, 2023, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka is being investigated over his alleged attack on governor Yahaya Bello in June.
The Police said, the governorship candidate blocked the governor on 3rd June, 2023 at Banda on Abuja-Lokoja road while returning from Abuja and since the incident, Muri has been invited severally for investigation which he has snubbed.
In a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya which he made available to CAPITAL POST on Monday, the police revealed that some governor’s aides sustained injuries as a result of the scuffle
The Police posited that the essence of invitation of Muri was to afford him the opportunity for him to explain his own side of the story for purposes of fairness, but has unfortunately refused to honour invitation or report himself to the police.
Part of the statement read: “It would be recalled that, on 3rd June, 2023 along Abuja-Lokoja road, the SDP Candidate Murtala Yakubu Ajaka and his supporters blocked and attacked the Convoy of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello at Banda some kilometers away from Lokoja.
“During the attack, some of the Governor’s aides sustained varying degrees of injuries. All efforts, invitations and entreaties to come and give his own side of the incident has come to naught. Yet he has been moving around the nooks and crannies of the State without any molestation even when he has no immunity. The case is still under Investigation.”
