Rivers APC youths protest, demands removal of Wike as FCT Minister
In what was considered as injustice against members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State, some youths on Monday, held a protest in Port Harcourt, demanding the removal of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike from office.
The protesters alleged marginalisation of the state chapter in his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the appointment of Wike as Minister and his former Commissioner for Finance, Boma Iyaye as the Executive Director, Finance and Administration in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC were all from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Protesting under the aegis of the Concerned Youths of Rivers APC, they took protest to the State party’s secretariat on Woji Road, New GRA, where, they insisted that Wike’s appointment should be reversed.
Leader of the group who pleaded that his name be concealed said, they were surprised that President Bola Tinubu could treat them in that manner, explaining that some of them have to support APC from a hiding during Wike’s tenure as he was set out to persecute them at that time.
Wike was the immediate past governor of Rivers State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party for eight years.
The youths said it is unfair for non-party members to be given such political appointments at the detriment of the APC in the state.
