$25 million Warri-Effurun Water project: Delta gov’t expresses satisfaction as project set to begin operation in few weeks
Delta State government has expressed satisfaction over the quality of facility mounted by the Contractor handling the $25 million Warri-Effurun water project, saying that they would be clean and safe drinking water for residents when it becomes operational.
State Commissioner for Water Resources, Dr Isaac Tosan Wilkie, stated this over the weekend when he paid a visit to the project site with the CEO of Don Domingo Water Company Limited (DDWCL), the company in charge of the water project.
Dr Wilkie said the water plant reticulation and rehabilitation project would provide a comprehensive insight into the innovative water purification and conservation methods and promise that water will be made available for the people in Warri and Effurun towns.
On his part, the Contractor in charge of the project, Temitope Akinyemi disclosed that the project is 80 percent completed and would commence the pumping of water to residents in few weeks’ time.
He said that Delta State government had been committed to the project and described the visit of the Commissioner of Water Resources as a crucial step in the state’s commitment to clean and safe drinking water for its residents.
According to him, Delta State government has demonstrated their commitment towards ensuring a safe, clean and sustainable water for the residents in line with the vision of Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs by 2030.
He said: “The journey to this stage has witnessed the steadfast support of the Delta State Government.
“The Don Domingo Water Company Limited (DDWCL) is a subsidiary of GTAssets group, a company experienced in water production, treatment and reticulation, with 30 years’ experience in the water sector.”
“The ultimate ambition of Don Domingo Water Company Limited (DDWCL) is to provide potable clean water while contributing its quota to SDG 7 to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, by 2030.
The Commissioner was taken on inspection of the site in the company of the CEO of DDWCL, Mr Temitope Akinyemi, and the Chairman of the Warri South Council, Dr. Michael Tidi, who was represented by the Secretary to the Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye.
